We are all heroes

(Lifted from WIKI)  The hero's journey, is a basic pattern that is found in narratives from around the world. Numerous myths from disparate times and regions share fundamental structures.  Campbell and other scholars, such as Erich Neumann, describe narratives of Gautama Buddha, Moses, and Christ in terms of the monomyth and Campbell argues that classic myths from many cultures follow a basic pattern that is similar.  I propose that similar myths across time and geography reveal old truths that we just have to rediscover.  We as humans have faced complexity before.  Our advantage is to learn from our pasts.  In a heros journey, every one of us is responsible for our learning, we must approach each new opportunity as one to learn from and thus with humility.  Not to show humiltiy is to miss much.  A lesson can then be learnt and leadership built in talking to your taxi driver, partner and every stranger if you view experiences as lessons.  People speak when we come with humility and ask with interest.  As does the hero.  The point is to realise a hero mindset which translates the mundane into insight.  Networks enhance this, in a networked age and in faceless communication we can all continually reinvent who we choose to be - leaders of our own destinty.
